Finding the best travel clothes has been a journey in itself. For years after embarking on my long-term travel adventure, durable and versatile clothing seemed elusive. Many pieces couldn’t withstand the demands of constant travel, succumbing to diverse locations, cultures, climates, and simple wear and tear. This often led to replacing them with cheaper, less satisfying alternatives along the way.
While I appreciate refreshing my travel wardrobe occasionally, I rarely found clothing items that truly excited me – until I discovered Anatomie travel clothes.
In this review, I’ll share why I genuinely believe Anatomie offers the best travel clothes brand on the market, even as a former skeptic.
Originally published in 2012 and consistently updated, this article reflects my ongoing experience with Anatomie. While some language may echo the original publication date, the content remains current and accurate. I received some of the reviewed items for free and utilize affiliate links, but my enthusiastic endorsement is genuine and based on years of personal use. My subsequent articles further detail how Anatomie clothes have truly stood the test of time, and I have personally invested in many more pieces since.
Struggling with flimsy travel clothes can be costly and frustrating. Investing in the best travel clothes is a smarter choice.
My Initial Thoughts on Anatomie Travel Apparel
When Anatomie first contacted me in 2012 to review their clothing, skepticism was my initial reaction. The prices seemed high, and the inability to try items on beforehand raised concerns. Could these pants really be worth it?
However, browsing their website sparked my interest. The designer styles and travel-ready materials were intriguing. It wasn’t the typical “utilitarian” travel clothing I often found unappealing. Curiosity won, and I agreed to try a few pieces.
I requested the Monika Short-Sleeve Ballerina Dress and they also included their Cargo Capris and the Cosima Cozy Coverup. This selection allowed me to thoroughly test Anatomie clothing across four countries, from mountain peaks to urban environments, during relaxation and active days, and in climates spanning chilly European alpine to humid Caribbean summer.
Here’s my honest assessment of how Anatomie performed under varied travel conditions:
Anatomie Monika Short-Sleeve Ballerina Dress: The Ultimate Travel Dress
Anatomie Monika dress, a stylish and comfortable choice for travel.
The Monika Short-Sleeve V-Neck Ballerina Dress was the item I was most eager to try. Its elegant design and promise of a flattering fit immediately appealed to me. Every female traveler needs a versatile dress that can be effortlessly unpacked and worn for any occasion.
This dress is the quintessential “little black dress,” reimagined and perfected for travel.
It truly exceeded expectations. The Monika dress is incredibly comfortable, undeniably flattering, and feels remarkably durable. It washes easily, dries surprisingly quickly, and resists wrinkles completely. While the layered mid-section adds a bit of weight and bulk compared to ultra-lightweight garments, it’s by no means heavy and its wrinkle-free nature and comfort are invaluable travel assets. Wearing it genuinely evokes a feeling of lightness and grace – it makes you want to move and explore!

Its style is versatile enough for diverse settings and cultures. For more relaxed environments, the sleeves can be styled off-the-shoulder for a different look.
This dress quickly became a staple in my travel wardrobe, and remains one of my favorite pieces of clothing.
While the Monika dress is no longer available, Anatomie continues to offer a beautiful selection of travel-ready dresses.
Anatomie Cargo Capri Travel Pants: Durable and Flattering Travel Companion
Pants shopping has always been a challenge for me. Inconsistent sizing across brands and styles is a common frustration. A size 6 in one brand might feel perfect, while a size 12 in another barely fits. Pants that fit my hips and thighs often gape at the waist, creating an unflattering silhouette.
This past experience made me hesitant about trying Anatomie pants without trying them on. The risk of ill-fitting pants seemed too high.
However, Anatomie included their Cargo Capris in my review package – a fortunate surprise. After over five years of consistent travel and wear, these capris have proven exceptionally durable.

The material immediately stood out. It’s incredibly lightweight, stretchy, yet feels robust. The fit was another pleasant surprise – they fit like a glove! Adjustable side straps at the waist allow for a customized fit, accommodating both slimmer and bloated days. The low-rise design is flattering and comfortable.
The lightweight, stretchy material, common in Anatomie pants, ensures comfort and near-instant drying. However, it’s not ideal for colder climates.
My only minor critique of the Cargo Capris is the pocket design. While they appear to have numerous pockets, the main pockets are somewhat obstructed by the lower pockets. These lower pockets, while aesthetically pleasing, aren’t very secure. I’ve lost coins from them simply sitting and standing. The back pockets are just flaps, offering no real storage. So, despite the pocket flaps, usable pocket space is limited.
Despite this minor drawback, I consistently wear the Cargo Capris, especially in warm climates. They offer sun protection while keeping you cool and comfortable. (And, importantly, they remain wrinkle-free).
Although the Cargo Capris are no longer available, Anatomie offers many full-length pants made from the same fantastic material. The Kate pants are now my go-to travel pants.

Anatomie Cosima Cozy Coverup: The Surprisingly Versatile Layer
Modeling the Anatomie Cosima Cozy Coverup on a mountain, highlighting the brand's durability even in challenging environments.
The Cosima Cozy Coverup was another item I hadn’t specifically requested. While I appreciate having a versatile cover-up for travel, especially when packing light, I already owned one. Initially, the Cosima material seemed too delicate and lightweight to provide any real warmth.
Could something so thin actually be practical travel gear and withstand the rigors of travel?
Upon opening the package, I had mixed feelings about the Cosima Cosy Coverup. It felt incredibly thin, almost fragile, yet undeniably soft and cozy.
I couldn’t stop touching it – the texture was irresistible.
For two months, I wore it frequently and put it to the test, being quite hard on my clothes. It held up remarkably well, seemingly defying my expectations of its delicate appearance. However, I remained unconvinced of its true durability.
Then, one day, it happened.
I accidentally brushed against a doorway, and the Cosima snagged on a nail. To my surprise, it didn’t rip! I still don’t understand how it was possible (it was a significant snag, and I was moving quickly), but the material proved to be much tougher than its delicate feel suggested.
Like all Anatomie clothing, it washes easily and dries almost instantly. It often ends up crumpled at the bottom of my laptop bag during travel, but it always emerges wrinkle-free and ready to wear.
While the Cosima Cozy is no longer available, Anatomie offers a wide selection of beautiful and equally versatile tops – explore them here.
Why Anatomie Travel Clothes Justify the Investment
The price point of Anatomie clothing is undeniable – it’s not budget-friendly. As someone who has mastered financially sustainable long-term travel, I initially hesitated to even review their clothing.
However,
Here’s why Anatomie is genuinely worth the investment for the discerning traveler seeking the best travel clothes:
- Premium Materials: Fabrics are primarily sourced from Italy and France, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Wrinkle-Free Travel: Say goodbye to ironing on the road. Anatomie clothes remain wrinkle-free, straight out of your luggage.
- Luxurious Comfort: Every piece feels incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin.

Concerns About Fit or Returns?
Anatomie eliminates the risk of online clothing purchases with free shipping and returns on all orders. A pre-paid return label is included with every shipment, making exchanges or returns hassle-free.
In conclusion, I am a convert. Anatomie, in my experience, truly offers the best travel clothing available.
While the initial price tags might have deterred me, experiencing the quality and performance firsthand completely changed my perspective. I have since purchased numerous Anatomie pieces and received others for review, and Anatomie now constitutes the majority of my travel wardrobe.
Anatomie successfully bridges the gap between designer fashion and the practical demands of travel. They have carved a unique niche in the market by offering designer travel wear specifically for women.
