What to Expect at the Baseball Tryout & Fee
There is a $50 tryout fee, which includes a Sluggers Tryout Shirt. This fee helps us cover the costs associated with running professional and organized tryouts. During your tryout, you can expect to participate in a comprehensive skills assessment, including:
- Speed & Agility: 60/90 Yard Dash, 5-10-5 Agility Test
- Throwing Velocity: Position Overhand Velocity
- Fielding: Groundballs with Throws to 1B, Fly Balls with Throws to Home
- Hitting: Demonstrating hitting ability
- Catching (if applicable): Catcher Pop Times to 2B
- Pitching (if applicable): Pitcher Bullpens

We understand the importance of playing for your local town teams and proudly support players participating in their town leagues. Sluggers is town team friendly and we will do our best to work around town team schedules during the regular season. We encourage players to have pride in their hometown and enjoy playing with friends.
However, we do expect that your Sluggers travel team commitment is your first priority during the summer season. While we cannot dictate your free time, we expect full attendance at all Sluggers practices and games throughout the summer months. Clear communication and commitment are key to a successful season for both the player and the team.
Fall & Winter Practice Expectations
Attendance at practices is crucial for player development. We encourage players to attend as many practices as possible during the fall and winter. We understand players may have commitments to other sports, family events, and school activities, and we are flexible. However, consistent practice attendance is highly recommended to maximize improvement.
Practices are held weekly on Sundays inside our indoor facility until spring when we can move to outdoor fields. Practices are designed to be efficient and effective, focusing on:

Full Commitment to the Season
We ask that players and families commit to the full Sluggers practice and game schedule. - New Balance Select League: June 18th to July 31st (Saturdays and Sundays).
- Tournaments: 3 tournaments between June 18th to August 14th.
Premier Teams (14U, 16U, 18U)
- Tournaments: 5 tournaments between June 23rd to August 14th.
- Local Games: 10-15 local games between June 23rd to August 14th.
