Understanding USA Travel Health Insurance: Key Disclaimers

Navigating the complexities of travel health insurance is crucial, especially when planning a trip to the USA. It’s essential to understand that benefits are subject to specific exclusions and limitations, and reimbursements are based on what are deemed Usual, Reasonable, and Customary charges. The information provided here serves as a summary of selected plan benefits and is intended for illustrative purposes only. For complete details, it’s imperative to consult the Certificate of Insurance or the Application, Master Policy, and any associated riders or governing documents, collectively known as the “Insurance Contract.” This Insurance Contract is the definitive source for understanding the actual benefits provided under your plan. Benefit limits and maximums can vary for residents of New York and Washington, so always refer to your specific policy documents for state-specific details.

The policy document you receive will depend on your state of residence. For certain iTravelInsured Lite, SE, LX, GT, Choice, Essential and Travel Sport plans, the travel insurance coverages are underwritten by SiriusPoint America Insurance Company, which holds an A- (Excellent) rating by AM Best 2023. For other iTravelInsured Lite, SE, LX and GT plans, the underwriter is United States Fire Insurance Company. It’s important to note that while International Medical Group (IMG) markets these plans, some non-insurance components are added by IMG, for which IMG does not receive compensation from USF.

These plans also incorporate non-insurance Travel Assistance Services provided by International Medical Group and Teladoc (Teladoc available on select iTravelInsured plans). The specifics of insurance coverages can differ by jurisdiction, and not all coverages are available everywhere. A critical point to remember is that insurance coverages are subject to terms, limitations, and exclusions, including stipulations regarding pre-existing medical conditions.

In most states, your travel retailer is not a licensed insurance producer or agent and, therefore, is not qualified to provide technical advice about the insurance terms, benefits, exclusions, or conditions, nor can they assess the adequacy of your current insurance coverage. Travel retailers may receive compensation for plan purchases and can offer general information about the plans, including coverage descriptions and pricing. Purchasing travel insurance is not mandatory for buying other services from your travel retailer. For residents of California, the CA DOI toll-free number is 800-927-4357. The total cost of your plan covers both insurance and non-insurance components. For detailed information about the features and pricing of each component, please contact International Medical Group directly.
