This sacred temple complex offers another layer of understanding Peru’s rich historical tapestry and is easily accessible for a day trip from the city.
Arequipa: The White City Beckons
Although my departure flight was from Arequipa, I unfortunately did not have the chance to explore the city itself. Since then, I’ve discovered that Arequipa, known as the “White City,” is a gem of Spanish colonial architecture and Andean charm. A future Peru travel itinerary will undoubtedly include a few days dedicated to discovering Arequipa’s unique character.

The Colca Canyon is undoubtedly impressive, and witnessing condors soaring through the Andean skies was a memorable experience.

That being said, I have no regrets about visiting Colca Valley as it offered a glimpse into a less-traveled region of Peru, showcasing its diverse landscapes beyond the well-trodden tourist paths.
