SiriusXM Travel Link Not Working After Sync 3.4 Upgrade in Ford Maverick? Let’s Fix It!

Experiencing issues with Siriusxm Travel Link after upgrading to Sync 3.4 APIM in your Ford Maverick? You’re not alone. Many Ford owners encounter snags when trying to get all features, especially navigation-related services like Sirius traffic, back online after a system update or component swap. This post dives into a common problem where SiriusXM Travel Link appears “Unsubscribed” despite enabling it in settings and having an active SiriusXM subscription. Let’s explore potential solutions and get your SiriusXM travel link back up and running.

After recently upgrading my 22 Maverick with a new Sync 3.4 APIM to enable navigation, everything seemed to be working perfectly – except for SiriusXM traffic. Initially, the Sirius travel link options were completely absent from the menu. Following some research, I managed to enable these options through the as-built settings for the APIM. Thinking this was the solution, I contacted SiriusXM to add traffic services to my account. Despite these steps, and subsequent master resets and multiple signal refreshes via my SiriusXM account, the Sirius subscription info page in my car stubbornly displays “Unsubscribed” for everything beyond basic audio.

I came across a similar issue reported on a Ford Escape forum. The solution there involved adjusting settings within the ACM (Audio Control Module) to facilitate traffic data reception by the APIM. Unfortunately, my Maverick has a newer ACM, and the specific setting mentioned in the forum isn’t documented in the as-built database for my ACM model. As a further attempt, I even tried applying the ACM as-built data from a 2023 Maverick that originally came equipped with navigation, but this yielded no positive results either.

This leads me to wonder if the TCU (Telematics Control Unit) might also play a role in this SiriusXM Travel Link puzzle. Could there be configuration changes needed within the TCU to enable traffic data flow to the APIM after a Sync 3.4 upgrade? At this point, I’m running out of troubleshooting ideas and hoping the community might have some insights.

Interestingly, upon vehicle startup, all SiriusXM subscription options initially show as unavailable. They then progressively switch to “unsubscribed,” one by one. This suggests that the system is at least actively checking for the service each time the car is turned on. I contacted SiriusXM support again to rule out any issues on their end, but they didn’t identify any problems from their side. They did, however, credit my account with $10, giving me a three-month window to resolve this SiriusXM Travel Link issue.

Vehicle Configuration:

  • SYNC Region: NA (North America)
  • Navigation Variant: Nav (Navigation enabled)
  • Manufacturer Year: MY20 (Model Year 2020 components in a 2022 Maverick)
  • Install Type: OEM Replacement (APIM replacement)
  • Old SYNC Version: 3.4.22251
  • New SYNC Version: 3.4.22251 (Version retained after APIM swap)
  • Error Message: SiriusXM Subscription Status – “Unsubscribed” for Travel Link features.
  • Update Method: Official Ford (using OEM parts and potentially Ford software/methods)

If anyone in the community has encountered a similar situation with SiriusXM Travel Link after a Sync 3.4 APIM upgrade, particularly in newer Ford models, your advice would be greatly appreciated. Specifically, any information regarding potential ACM or TCU settings that need adjustment would be incredibly helpful in getting SiriusXM traffic and travel link features functioning correctly again.
