Why a Travel Blow Dryer is Your Must-Pack Item: Hair Care on the Go

Are you tired of unreliable hotel hair dryers or struggling with bad hair days while traveling? Many globetrotters face this dilemma: to pack or not to pack their own hair dryer. While some rely on what accommodations offer, bringing your own Travel Blow Dryer can be a game-changer for your travel experience, ensuring you look and feel your best, no matter where you are.

Just recently returning from a trip to Spain, I can attest to the value of packing my own travel blow dryer. While it’s true that hair dryers are becoming more commonplace in hotels and vacation rentals than they used to be, my personal experience highlighted why I’ll always choose to bring mine. During my Spain trip, almost every place we stayed had a hair dryer available. However, after trying a couple provided in apartments, I consistently found myself reaching for my own trusty travel companion. There’s just no substitute for the performance and familiarity of your own device.

Traveling light is often a priority, especially with airlines increasingly strict about baggage weight and size. On this Spain trip, we were committed to carry-on only, adhering to Lufthansa’s 18-pound limit. Fitting in a hair dryer might seem like a challenge when every ounce counts. However, I’ve never encountered issues including my travel blow dryer in my carry-on. I also utilize a personal item backpack, and in the rare event of weight concerns, a blow dryer could easily fit there. Typically, my backpack handles heavier essentials like toiletries, chargers, e-readers, and guidebooks, leaving ample space and weight allowance in my main carry-on for items like my hair dryer.

Packing light involves making strategic choices about what’s essential for you. For me, personal care and feeling good about my hair are non-negotiable aspects of travel comfort. I’d readily purchase travel-sized toiletries like toothpaste, lotion, or sunscreen at my destination before even considering leaving my small travel blow dryer behind. In fact, I pack all of these – toiletries and my hair dryer! This philosophy extends to other comfort items as well. I even bring my own Starbucks commuter cup to enjoy a proper-sized cup of tea in my room, bypassing the often-tiny cups provided.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to pack a travel blow dryer comes down to personal preference and priorities. Consider how important your hair styling routine is to your overall travel experience. If having control over your hair and achieving your desired look enhances your confidence and enjoyment on your trip, then a travel blow dryer is undoubtedly a worthwhile addition to your luggage. Be true to yourself and pack what will genuinely make your travel experience better – for many, that includes a reliable travel blow dryer.
