Travel Services: Guidance on Aviation Safety and Security Complaints

When utilizing Travel Services, ensuring your safety and security is paramount. If you encounter issues related to aviation safety or security during your travel experiences, it’s important to know where to direct your concerns. Please be aware that the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Office of Aviation Consumer Protection is not the office that handles aviation safety and security complaints.

It’s crucial to understand the distinction between different types of air travel related issues. The Office of Aviation Consumer Protection primarily deals with consumer-related issues within travel services, such as flight delays, baggage problems, or ticketing issues. Complaints regarding the safety aspects of air travel, which might include concerns about aircraft maintenance or operational procedures, and security complaints, such as airport security screenings or potential threats, are handled by other federal agencies specializing in these areas.

To ensure your concerns are addressed by the correct authorities, please do not submit aviation safety and security complaints to the DOT’s Office of Aviation Consumer Protection. This office focuses on ensuring fair travel services and consumer rights within the aviation industry, but not the direct oversight of safety and security protocols. For issues directly related to safety and security, there are dedicated channels and agencies equipped to handle these specific types of reports.

Please remember to submit any comments about the web complaint form process itself (not air service complaints) to the email address provided: [email protected].

Note: Please only hit Submit once as our system sometimes takes a few moments to process your complaint.
