Lauren and Craig’s story is one for the travel books. For over 17 years, this adventurous couple has been exploring the world, showcasing a true commitment to the non stop travel lifestyle that many dream of. Their journey began unexpectedly, proving that sometimes the greatest adventures start with the simplest decisions.
Meeting while working at a Pizza Express in the UK, Lauren and Craig’s travel story kicked off with a year of saving and a working holiday visa to Australia. Landing in Sydney in August 2008, they quickly embraced nomadic life, purchasing a station wagon to call home for nine months. This initial plunge into simple living and budget travel ignited a passion that has lasted nearly two decades and spanned across 85 countries.
Their travel style is a blend of resourcefulness and adventure. They’ve owned seven campervans, each a mobile home enabling freedom and exploration. When not on wheels, they backpack or volunteer, cleverly stretching their travel funds earned from seasonal work in the UK or through working holiday visas. Volunteering has offered unique cultural immersion, from making mud bricks in the Sahara to housesitting in Greece, building in Scotland, and guiding snowshoeing in Norway. These experiences highlight the diverse and enriching nature of non stop travel.
After a pause during covid restrictions, their travels resumed with a year-long road trip across the UK, Ireland, Spain, and France. Selling their campervan marked a return to backpacking, leading to a year of adventures in the Balkans, Georgian mountains, swimming with whales in Mauritius, wildlife encounters in South Africa, Himalayan hikes, and even wild swimming in Taiwan. Their story truly embodies the spirit of non stop travel and continuous exploration.
Looking ahead from their current seasonal job in the Lake District, Lauren and Craig are planning another backpacking trip starting in February 2024. While their next destinations include Oman, The Maldives, China, and Pakistan, their journey inspires thoughts of endless possibilities, perhaps even the beautiful shores of Hawaii one day. For those dreaming of their own non stop travel adventures, Lauren and Craig’s story is a powerful reminder that with a spirit of adventure and smart planning, the world is yours to explore.
